As of yesterday, the page experience algorithm has started to roll out on desktop. This algorithm has been running on mobile pages since last year. (More on this in Google announcements).

MHC x SEL: How to improve E-A-T for YMYL

Marie published an article on Search Engine Land on how to improve your E-A-T for YMYL pages. It goes in-depth covering the basics of E-A-T and YMYL, how you can better your E-A-T, using Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines to review your content and improve it, and discusses when certain elements of E-A-T may or may not be critical. It’s a great starting place for anyone looking to work on their E-A-T or quality in Google’s eyes.

The Page Experience Update is rolling out

We’ve known for a while that Google was planning to begin using page experience as part of their desktop ranking systems sometime in February 2022, but it wasn’t until this past Tuesday that we learned the exact date.

SEO Tips

Track your Web Stories performance

Are you using Web Stories? If you’re doing so and you’re curious about how your Web Stories are performing and who you’re reaching, you should definitely check out this blog post from Google for Creators. Other Interesting News

Heads up, the DMCA penalty algorithm has been strengthened

Google’s DMCA update, also known as the Pirate update, launched in 2012 and has been in the shadows for the most part. In 2014, Google updated it and only recently did Glenn spot a comment from Google saying they’d strengthened this algorithm. They did this by catching redirect schemes and making sites hit by this suffer a 89% drop in traffic. Look out, Google’s comin’ for ya!

Local SEO - Google SERP Changes

This is new in Google Maps

Normally seen in the local listings or knowledge panel, questions and answers have come to Google Maps. For anyone not familiar with Q&A, you can ask the community a question for a quick response. Barry reminds us that this is not new to search, but definitely new to Maps. Could this be a new rollout?
