Google Announcements
Say hello to Google’s latest announced update
Wednesday night, Google snuck in a quick announcement of a new spam update that will be rolling out immediately. While it was announced, this is not to be confused with a core update. Google says the November 2021 spam update should be rolled out within a week. We’ll report back next week on what we’ve seen or heard regarding this update.
As part of our regular work to improve results, we've released a spam update to our systems. This November 2021 spam update should be fully rolled out within a week. We encourage sites to follow our best practices for Search: https://t.co/jK3ArQmTqT

Improve your job descriptions
Differentiating your job posting from another can be quite difficult so it’s important that you be as clear as possible by including a complete description. You’ll want to include job qualifications, skills, benefits, etc. in the description field. Making sure you’re as specific as possible can ensure job seekers really understand your posting and what details they need to know if they apply.
SEO Tips
Ask Googlebot: Are shorter URLs better for SEO?
It’s no surprise to us here at MHC that URL length is not said to be a ranking factor but one way it can be relevant is with respect to canonicalization. Hopefully this is no surprise to you either since we’ve covered this in a recent Newsletter episode with one of John’s tweets stating this exact thing. There’s nothing new here but it seems like this information has been put in video format with #AskGooglebot since we notified the SNYCU community of John’s original tweet.

Read receipts have come to GMB messaging
For customers who message you through Google Maps and Search, you can now decide whether you want to show them if you read their message or not. As a heads up, if you have messaging on, read receipts will automatically be turned on (but you can choose to turn this off in GMB).
